This Privacy Policy explains how Still Water Aquatics ("we", "us"), the organiser of The Great Indian Aquascaping Contest (TGIAC), collects and uses your personal data when you use this website and enter the contest. We handle your data responsibly and in line with India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.

Who we are

What we collect

  • Account details: your email address, used to sign in.
  • Profile details: your name, phone number, city and state.
  • Entry details: your aquascape photographs, tank specifications and the retailer you bought from.
  • Referral details: if you refer others or are referred, the referral link and its status.
  • Technical data: a strictly necessary cookie that keeps you signed in. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

Why we use it

  • To create and manage your account and contest entries.
  • To run screening, judging, shortlisting and awards.
  • To contact you about your entry and the contest by email and WhatsApp.
  • To administer regional, demographic and referral awards.
  • To showcase shortlisted and winning entries publicly, including in the Hall of Fame.

Consent

We process your personal data on the basis of the consent you give when you register and when you submit an entry. You may withdraw your consent at any time (see Your rights); if you do, we may no longer be able to process your entry.

Who we share it with

We share limited data with service providers who help us run the contest (for example, email delivery and cloud hosting) and with Aqua Design Amano (ADA) India for issuing prize vouchers. We do not sell your personal data. By entering, you agree that the images you upload may be used by Still Water Aquatics to showcase the contest.

How long we keep it

We keep your data for as long as needed to run the contest edition and for a reasonable period afterwards for records and legal purposes, after which it is deleted or anonymised.

Your rights

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correct or update inaccurate data.
  • Request erasure of your data.
  • Withdraw your consent.
  • Nominate another person to exercise these rights on your behalf, as allowed by law.
